Botox Treatments BeforeBOTOX Cosmetic Treatments MN
Relax! You are in expert hands at Stonewater Skin and Laser of Minneapolis/St. Paul, Dr. Karl Elser offers the BOTOX Cosmetic treatment you’ve been hearing about.

By now, you probably have friends or relatives that have told you about their experience with Botox. And you may have noticed that the creases in your forehead or in between your brows never seem to go away. Now is the time for you to consider Botox. By starting now you can prevent these fine lines from becoming severe wrinkles. If you already have deep lines and wrinkles, don't worry. It's never too late to start using Botox. You can actually reverse the damage done!

The BOTOX Cosmetic Procedure

To help smooth away wrinkles, BOTOX Cosmetic, a purified protein produced by Clostridium Botulinum Bacterium, is injected into the muscle. This purified protein has been used safely for decades in the medical community to relax over strong muscles in patients with migraines and cerebral palsy, and other neuromuscular disorders. By blocking the nerve impulse transmissions within the muscle, the muscle does not receive the signal to contract. There by weakening overly strong muscles. As a result, the muscle relaxes, and the wrinkle in the overlying skin gradually softens. BOTOX is not permanent so treatments will need to be repeated. Your own bodies nerve regeneration rate will determine how often you need to be re injected.

When Botox is properly placed and judiciously used it creates a natural cosmetic outcome. Dr Elser's technique and experience with this treatment has his patients raving! " A soft, natural result is what my clients are looking for" . Muscles related to other expressions are unaffected. This procedure can be used by itself or in conjunction with Laser and Light Based treatments to rapidly transform your skin. BOTOX Cosmetic treatment sessions take just 10 to 15 minutes. We always take a baseline photo graph at your first treatment. It's amazing to see the difference one simple cosmetic treatment make.

Before & After Care

At the time you make your appointment for your first BOTOX Cosmetic session, you will be advised to avoid aspirin, Motrin and Ibuprofen and any products containing blood thinners for ten days before your treatment. These products do not affect the Botox product or the treatment effectiveness, but they can increase your risk of bruising. Bruising at the injection site is rare and in most cases covered up with make-up. After the treatment, you should avoid rubbing the treated area or areas for 48 hours. You should also remain sitting or standing for at least four hours after the treatment. You may resume light activities immediately but avoid exercise for 24 hours.

You’ll See The Results

You can expect to see initial results from your BOTOX Cosmetic treatment in 3 to 10 days. You’ll see the optimal effects in one to four weeks. The relaxing effects of BOTOX Cosmetic usually last two to five months, at which time your wrinkles will gradually appear as they were before the treatment. If you like, we can call to see if you want to schedule another BOTOX treatment. After several treatments, the effects of BOTOX Cosmetic may begin to last longer, sometimes from six to eight months.

Is It Safe?

BOTOX Cosmetic has been used safely in the field of ophthalmology and neurology fields for decades, and it has been used to treat muscle-caused wrinkles for over six years. The most serious side effects that have been observed are temporary drooping of the eyelid or double vision. These side effects result from weakening of the muscles very close to the eyelid. The complications are self-limited and wear off within a few weeks. To avoid these side effects, injections are kept away from the eyelid itself. Mild headache, nausea and upper respiratory or flu like symptoms have also been reported. These are generally limited and resolve quickly. Bruising can also occur at the injection site, but this clears rapidly and is usually gone within a day or two, and is easily covered with makeup. No systemic side effects have been noted.

We do not use BOTOX Cosmetic on individuals with existing neuromuscular disorders such as multiple sclerosis, or other significant systemic or disabling diseases or conditions. Also, if you have an infection at the site to be treated, we will not treat you with BOTOX Cosmetic until the infection has completely cleared. At your initial complimentary consultation at Stonewater,
Dr. Elser will discuss your skin care goals and overall health, and will let you know if BOTOX Cosmetic is right for you.
